Greetings from Stockholm! Meet Lisa Sunding, Managing Counsel for Sweden and Finland 📜👩🏻⚖️
What does your team do?
The legal team’s role is to empower the business to deliver on Entercard’s strategy by consistently providing timely, simple and clear legal advice, while ensuring that the business operates within applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
What do you do?
As Managing Counsel for Sweden and Finland, I am responsible for the overall legal support to the business in these two markets. This includes advising on product and process-related questions, negotiate agreements, drive legal work in projects and change initiatives, including regulatory implementations, new or updated products, and market-specific developments. The role also involves close cooperation with the business and compliance to ensure that legal requirements are correctly interpreted and practically implemented.
What is the best thing about Entercard?
What really stands out to me about Entercard is the open and inclusive culture. There is a strong sense of openness throughout the organisation and among colleagues, where different perspectives are welcomed and it is easy to have constructive discussions. Entercard also places a great deal of value on being a serious and fair market player. There is a genuine commitment to doing things the right way and to being compliant with applicable regulations, and this is something that makes my work much more rewarding.
At the same time, Entercard is fast-moving, with short decision paths and close collaboration across functions. This is especially satisfying, given that we operate in a highly regulated and traditionally slow-moving industry.
Finally, Entercard is a fair employer, with a real understanding of work–life balance. There is trust in employees and a recognition that sustainable performance goes hand in hand with flexibility and respect for life outside of work, which I highly appreciate.
How is it to work with your role in the finance industry?
The finance industry is highly regulated, with extensive and constantly evolving regulatory frameworks that often become more demanding over time. In my role as a lawyer, this means continuously staying up to date with complex regulations and providing guidance to the business at an early stage, often before clear market practice or case law has developed. This makes the role both challenging and very stimulating. It requires sound judgment, the ability to interpret and apply rules in a practical way, and close dialogue with the business. As a result, I am constantly learning and developing in my role, which I find highly motivating.
